What I do best is produce Indie Pop, Singer-Songwriters, and Folk Artists...

I've produced 100's of artists over the past 23 years- that's thousands of songs!

I'm starting to get the hang of this thing...

II've won 6 Emmys®, 3 Telleys, and nominations for Best Pop Producer and Best Dance/Electronica Producer. I've been fortunate to be able to produce people from all over the planet, and a bunch of artists I've mixed have also won or have at least been nominated for several major (and minor) awards. Imagine what I can do for you.

My superpower is that I have a laser-like focus on being able to get the sounds my artists envision. Seriously- I keep going and going until I've found the sound.

Everyone I work with is at a different stage in their career. Some people do this full time, some do it whenever they can. I know what it's like to have a family and also be true to your art, it 's quite a balancing act.

Whatever stage you're on,  it's up to me to figure out what you need, and together we make it happen! I'm the luckiest guy in the world to be able to do this for a living. If you're thinking about doing a project with me, click here. I dare you.

"I'm here to make you sound good- That's it"

"We were pleased right from the start. BZ was prompt in all email exchanges, open to help with project planning and professional in all ways. And most importantly, the songs we had mixed there sound great. He really listened to our music and did what was right for us as a band and for each specific song. Seriously.. .awesome."

A History of BZ and The MixPack…

BZ Lewis grew up in his father's home studio in a small town in west Texas. He remembers being 7 years old and duplicating 1/4 inch tapes on an Ampex reel to reel machine for his father's daily syndicated radio program, 'The Sound of Texas'. It wasn't long before the studio/music bug crept into his life. About the same time, he started playing piano and later developed a love for guitar. He attended an audio engineering school in Waco, Texas and received his B.A. in music with an emphasis on classical guitar from the University of Texas at Austin where he was honored as one of the best guitarists in the state of Texas by Texas Beat Magazine.

He set out for California in '93 to work on a film that launched his career, and in '96 he started recording demos for singer/songwriters in a suburb of the Bay Area. The following year he opened STUDIO 132 in downtown San Francisco. After getting married and starting a family, he moved the studio - family in tow- to it's current location in Oakland, CA, where he has been the main engineer for decades. The MixPack soon followed as the internet became fast enough for large file transfers. The current Oakland recording studio location was designed from the ground up with the help of Chips Davis, (Lucasfilm's Skywalker Ranch) and tuned by Bob Hodas- the room whisperer. In 2009 - just two years after building the studio- BZ won the first of 6 Emmys. Since then he's won Telly awards, a communicator award, and awards and nominations from the Independent Music Awards and the International Songwriting Awards. Things just keep looking up for BZ at The MixPack.

The MixPack is committed to the highest quality possible regardless of the size of the project. We specialize in getting the best performances from our musicians, singers, and VO artists for a dynamic performance, whatever the medium. Our philosophy is that when you come to us for help, we won't stop until we get the best possible results - if you'll let us.
